  South Bank Group Walks

I have selected a few walks from the  south Bank  new programme. Remember, all are welcome to come along /try it out a couple of times then if you like it can join the group. Most walks are in the South East, North Downs, South Downs, Sussex.

Sun 30 July 2017 10:00 – 11 miles/17.7 km – Moderate


Starts at 10:00: Oxted Station 
Moderate pace, undulating walk. Starting with a very steep climb to join the North Downs Way. Returning via the Greensand Way.
Lunch: Picnic/Pub lunch in Godstone
Train: Victoria 9.23; Clapham Jct 9.29; E Croydon 9.40.(E Grinstead train).

Sat 5 August 2017 10:35 – 13 miles/20.9 km – Strenuous


Starts at 10:35: Hayes (Kent) Station – zone5

Brisk pace. Starting over the wooded Hayes Common, then passing Keston Ponds and the village of Downe before lunching at Cudham. Returning to Hayes via Luxted and Nash. Woodland and farmland terrains at the beginnings of rural Kent. A fair amount of up and down with 1 or 2 tarmac lanes. Possible drop-out point at Downe (bus to Bromley South station).
Lunch: Picnic/Pub (Blacksmiths Arms) Cudham Village
Train: Charing X 09:47; Waterloo E 9.50; London Bridge 9:55; Lewisham 10.08; Catford Bridge 10.13 (Hayes train). People on the line to Sevenoaks (Thameslink) could pick up the Hayes train by changing from Catford Station to Catford Bridge.

Sat 12 August 2017 10:30 – 10 miles/16.1 km – Moderate


Starts at 10:30: Stonegate Station

Moderate pace through peaceful Sussex Weald via Burwash. Gentle hills, quiet woods, some rickety stiles and nettles. Visit to Kipling’s house, Rolls Royce and gardens. Extended lunch for visit. Those not wanting to enter National Trust property with entrance fee of £10.40 may picnic nearby
Lunch: Cafe or picnic at Bateman’s .Entrance fee.
