Eight mile walk from Harold Wood to West Horndon
My first walk of the year with the South bank group on Saturday, 22/02/2014. The sun shone brightly and it felt like a spring day. We met at Harold Wood (Essex) and walked to West Horndon. It was (about ) an eight mile walk, with what was a large group of about 30 people. Some road walking was done and we covered a fair amount of some local large parks and woodland. You could see the London Skyscrapers from certain high parts , but that was well out in the distance,it was refreshing to see the Big Blue Open sky without concrete buildings cluttering the landscape.
We had a great pub lunch at Thatchers Arms in the village Great Warlley. The food and service were fantastic. This was about the halfway point, after which we enjoyed a further four miles of mostly woodland walk, though some road walking and car beeping was endured!
